- Awesome quality
- They perform extremely thorough testing and quality control
- They share education on using essential oils safely
- Affordable
- They have a KidSafe oil line
- The customer rewards program
Who is Plant Therapy as a company?
Before we dig in, let’s have a quick look at the brand’s history! Plant Therapy is a family-run business from Idaho, USA, and began in 2011. Their aim is to provide high-quality oils to the world at reasonable prices.
And they champion quality, transparency, and a positive world impact as core company values. What really helps guarantee their reputation is the fact that they have worked closely with a leading expert in aromatherapy, Robert Tisserand.
Tisserand co-wrote the book “Essential Oil Safety” and was heavily involved with Plant Therapy to develop and ensure the best safety and quality measures for the brand. He even developed the KidSafe line.
Quality
One of the stand-out features of Plant Therapy Essential Oils is its high quality. Plant therapy focuses on providing 100% pure, additive-free, natural oils. They assure the highest quality of both their essential oils and carrier oils making them great for aromatherapy.
They also boast top-quality materials in their diffusers and other products. The oils smell amazing with high potency!
Organic
Plant Therapy also has a wide range of fully-organic products, certified through ECOCERT ICO, an organization accredited through the National Organic Program (NOP).
This means pure ingredients that help conserve natural resources and reduce the environmental impact. For these collections they don’t use pesticides on their crops, Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are banned and they only use organic seeds.
Sourcing
Plant Therapy sources their oils from farms and suppliers around the world. They are very particular when selecting each new supplier.
They carefully research and evaluate the background, reputation, and commitment of each one to ensure the highest quality products. They vet their distillers in the same way.
Are they ‘Therapeutic Grade’?
Plant Therapy oils are not technically ‘therapeutic grade’, but that doesn’t mean they are not completely pure and perfect for aromatherapy. What do I mean? There actually doesn’t exist any organization that oversees the quality of essential oils!
And the term “Therapeutic grade” is actually a marketing term that can be used by any company. Therefore Plant Therapy chooses not to use it at all, preferring to guarantee their quality with proven testing, pure ingredients, and aromatherapy specialists.
Be wary of companies that call themselves ‘therapeutic grade’ and always check their quality and testing procedures.
Testing
Organoleptic testing
Plant Therapy does thorough and extensive testing on every batch of oil to guarantee the best quality and transparency so you always know what you’re getting. The essential oils first get organoleptically tested by Plant Therapy’s own certified aromatherapists.
This type of testing involves monitoring the scent, color, and consistency of oil over time. Interestingly, sometimes new characteristics are not revealed until after half an hour or so.
Third-party testing
The oils then get sent away to be tested by a third party. Here they undergo multiple tests including GC/MC testing (Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry).
You can even check testing results online!
Finally, you can even check the testing results of your specific batch online! There is a unique batch code on each bottle linked to their own set of testing reports. If you go to the product page on the website and click ‘Test Reports’, you can actually read the GC/MS report for yourself.
Education
Transparency
I also love that Plant Therapy actually educates its customers on the uses of oils and the best safety practices on the website and blog.
They aim to be totally transparent about their products, including the botanical name, extraction method, country of origin, plant part used aromatic scent as well as the GC/MS report on the label of every product.
Safe recipes on Facebook
Plant Therapy has its own Facebook Group where you can find safe essential oil recipes. It joins together a community of people who want to share their favorite recipes with each other. So it is a great place to learn and share.
Get informed on the blog
The certified blog also posts regular articles on how best to use different essential oils, properties of different scents and blends, as well as safe practices. Plant Therapy prioritizes informing their customers on how to safely use essential oils in their homes, which many other companies do not do.
Affordable
Unlike many essential oils, Plant Therapy is very reasonably priced. At the time of writing this, they offer 10ml single oils from around $8.95 and blends from as low as $5.97. However, despite being cheaper than some other brands, I have found the quality is still excellent. One of the best value companies out there.
Wide Range of Products and Oils
Oils
Plant Therapy has a huge range of oils available, including single oils, synergy oil blends, organic oils, and roll-ons. You can also buy different carrier oils in various sizes.
They have hundreds of different oil scents under the 10 scent families —Herbal, Medicinal, Floral, Spice, Wood, Fruity, Mint, Foodlike, Earthy or Fresh. Their website even has a ‘fragrance wheel’ to help you choose the right one for you!
Other products
They also sell diffusers, accessories, and other products. Find a range of diffusers from KidSafe ones, portable ones, to car diffusers, and even Aromatherapy inhalers. Plant Therapy also has a wide variety of body care products including hydrosols, lotions, body butter, body crèmes, balms, aloe jellies, bath products, and more!
KidSafe® Line
What is it?
Plant Therapy has an amazing KidSafe line, the first-ever collection of essential oils developed specifically for children. As mentioned above, it was developed and formulated by Aromatherapy and essential oil safety expert Robert Tisserand.
The selection completely avoids any scents that can cause negative health effects in kids and also targets specific ailments and problems that are common for children between 2 and 10 years old.
Therefore, as well as being 100% safe for children, the oils can also be super effective. Great for any parents who have concerns about using essential oils around their kids or would love to use essential oils to help their little ones!
Product range
They have a wide range of products in the KidSafe range as well, from singles, synergies, organic oils, and roll-ons. They also have bright kid-friendly packaging and child-engaging names like Germ Destroyer, Better than Kisses, and Get ‘Em Gone.
If you have ever wondered about the benefits of essential oils for kids, I would definitely recommend checking out this line.
Customer Rewards Program

Oil of the Month Club
What is it?
If you use a lot of essential oils, or love trying new oils and discovering new scents and their benefits, you may love the Plant Therapy Oil of the Month Club. Each month, Plant Therapy selects a different unique Oil of the Month.
Before it is released to the whole online shop, you can purchase it in special, recyclable packaging along with an educational insert that tells you all about the oil and its benefits.
There is also a blog post released giving you a detailed rundown of the history, benefits, and uses of that oil so you can learn about it as you use it. Some of the past oils have been Sichuan Pepper, Woodland Co-Extraction, Tumeric Fresh Tek & Holy Basil.
How much is it?
You can either make a one-off purchase of the mystery monthly oil for $20 or if you become a club member. In the club, you will receive the Oil of the Month straight to your door, every month for a $15 subscription fee.
The bottle sizes range from 2.5 ml to 30 ml. It is certainly a great way to discover a whole range of brand new oils that you might not otherwise try!
Can you use Plant Therapy Oil internally?
Some people swear by using essential oils internally, usually by diluting some drops into recipes or beverages. This is said to aid with healthy cell function, maintaining the immune system, cleansing the body, or in some cases adding flavor to food or drink.
However, without the right know-how, specialist knowledge, or direction, using oils like this can be harmful. And for this reason, Plant Therapy does NOT recommend using essential oils for internal use in general.
Having said this, they recognize that the internal use of oils can be done successfully. But it should always be done under the instruction of a specialist or expert, and someone who understands the individual body they are treating.
Try the Aromafuse 380ml Diffuser
One of the best products offered by Plant Therapy is without a doubt the Aromafuse 380ml Diffuser. An easy-to-use, ultrasonic diffuser with an extra-large capacity. Ultrasonic diffusers are one of the most effective, high-quality diffuser types, also known as humidifying diffusers.
They disperse essential oils and water particles in a fine mist using the force of ultrasonic vibrations to break down the oil molecules. This diffuser uses no chemicals and no heat which preserves the integrity of the oils which is great.
Although some people prefer diffuser types that do not dilute oils with water. The extra-large tank size means that you can get up to 10 hours of continuous diffusing time which can cover a large area over 500 square feet.
This diffuser is super-easy to operate. Simply fill the reservoir up to the line with water and add 6 to 10 drops of your favorite oil. And then just plug it in and turn it on. This flexible diffuser means however consistent or intense you like your oils, you can always find the right setting.
It has 5 different settings; continuous mist, 2-hour burst, or intermittent cycles of 15 seconds on and 30 seconds off, 15 minutes on and 30 minutes off, or 30 minutes on and 30 minutes off. It even has an inbuilt LED uplight meaning you can add some atmospheric mood lighting if you use this in the evening.
The product has a sleek, modern aesthetic and I love all three finishes; pearl white rose gold and wood-grain brown. If you are worried about safe usage, Plant Therapy has got you covered.
They use BPA-free, food-grade plastics and coat the tank to protect it from erosion by the oils. Oh and finally, and there is a 1-year warranty! So you can try this product out with peace of mind.
Can I sell Plant Therapy Wholesale?
If you have your own store and might be interested in selling Plant Therapy products, you can check out their Wholesale Group.
Overall
So overall, what’s the verdict? I must say, Plant Therapy is up there as one of the most wide-ranging, high-quality, and affordable essential oil suppliers out there! They have effective, pure oils, an extensive range of products, and an awesome ethos! What are you waiting for?
